Swiss Re May Create a Full Brazilian Reinsurance Division

Swiss Re operates in Brazil under “admitted” status, which allows it to operate fully without having any major capital directly in Brazil.

The company is contemplating switching to “local” status, under which companies must have a base capital investment of 60 million Brazilian reais, and then 20% capital requirement of the contract premiums.
